Scrap your day 03

On to the 3rd "Scrap Your Day" layout already, and next week brings the 4th day of picture taking. This year is just flying by. I can't believe it's only 66 days til my next vacation already too! THAT makes me very happy! This time we plan to get to Boston and the Big E (hopefully)! At least I have more time in September, almost a full 10 days.

This months theme was capturing the faces around us. Since I live with just my feline companion, there was no getting pics of family, and since I'm also not allowed to take pictures at work, it made for a short window of picture taking. Above, see a pic that didn't make it into the LO, one of the fountains by where I work. The first pic of the day came when I left work at 4:40 in the afternoon. After a quick stop at starbucks and the boat ramp I came home. I was able to get a couple shots around the house, then decided a visit to the St John's Town Center mall was in order. It was a bittersweet evening as both Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson passed away.

This past weekend I found yet another turtle in the continuing saga of "find all the fiberglas turtles in Jacksonville". This one is just on the side of the road by my Toyota dealership.

I also managed to find a new nature preserve. Unfortunately the interesting half is closed for renovation. This one is called Castaway Island Preserve. They did have a nice, albeit overgrown, flower garden loaded with butterflies.

Oh, and in other super duper cool news, the dunkin donuts we had here near the airport is REOPENING!!! oh, how happy that makes my workplace. But wait, there's more! In addition to the million restaurants at the river city shopping center (near the airport, not as nice as the St. John's, but definitely a place I visit frequently) we now have an Olive Garden there! Salad! Breadsticks. I think I'm in heaven! :) I'm thinking dinner before the new Harry Potter film on Thursday!

As always click on the photos for a closer look, and don't forget to visit Jeanne's Blog to see what she created!

Lazy Sunday

On Saturday I had planned to go to the beach for Sunrise Service, but on Sunday morning that was not happening. I woke up, fed the cat and promptly went right back to bed. Ah, well. I finally got up about 8:30-ish, took my shower and proceeded to have a semi-lazy day.

I made cinnamon rolls, and coffee, then got on the computer. I always hit the Postsecret blog first on Sundays, then off to check out some crafty blogs.

Eventually Jeanne & I connect and decide to scrap. It took me a little while to decide what layouts to do, but I decided on one for the election (loosely), and one on the walk through Cradle Creek Preserve.

The photos on the right half of the page were from the rally held at Metro Park back in September.

~details: cardstock: The Paper Company, "memorable" stamp: Collage Press office policy, "imagine" & "dream" rub-ons: Junkitz, "change you can believe in" stamps: Scrappy Cat.

For the Cradle Creek layout, I wanted simple, and used a sketch I found in the newest, and sadly last issue of Simple Scrapbooks.
There are so many great places here to hike and watch birds, or other small creatures, that I just need to get out there and find them.
~details: Cardstock: Bazzill, Flowers: Prima, Letter stickers & brads: unknown, journaling font: Lucida Handwriting.
Have a great week and don't forget to go visit Jeanne's blog and see what she created!

My, My...

I had a pretty quiet week for the most part, and really didn't go anywhere until last night. I ended up at the beach with probably a couple thousand other folks all to watch the Space Shuttle Discovery take off. I'd never gone to watch that before, and even though I'm quite a ways north of Cape Canaveral, you could see plenty, it was very cool!

As usual Jeanne & I had a scrappy session going on. It wasn't as long as some of them, but still fun & productive as always!

I got 2 layouts done, both super simple. First one is for my baby girl Sadie. Ok, so she's a dog. I love this pic i took of her on my last vacation home, she was so happy to see me, and I was very happy to see her as well!

~details: PP: American Crafts, date stamp: Collage press "office Policy", "sadie" bone and paw stamps: Studio G, ink: stampcraft and ColorBox.

Next one is a few favorite beach pics from january and february. I used sketch 12 from Inspired blueprints for this one, and since I didn't cut the contrasting blocks to exactly 6x6, I had to finagle it to get the pics to line up right. It's still not quite lined up, but I like the way it came out.
~details: background papers: Colorbok "jewel", PP used for button in center: American Crafts, Thread: DMC, Rub-on flowers: American Crafts, Date stamp: Collage Press.
So, there you have it! I can't wait to get prints made of the shuttle launch to scrap that. How am I ever going to fit 50 pics on a page?? lol
As always, go here to see what Jeanne made!

Oh, Scrappy day!

Today was a busy, but good day. I came home to not one, but TWO packages in my mailbox! I ordered a few items at Addicted to Scrapbooking, and a paperback from the paperback swap site. I've seen this author's books at the library, and since I'm so slow at getting into reading I didn't want to borrow it and not have it done, or need to renew half a dozen times. His name is Jasper Fforde, and the books are a sci-fi/mystery mix. It would figure that Book 2 arrives before book 1, too. Ah, well.

The scrappy goodies are Creative Cafe Travel set on the right, and on the left is Dear Diary from Collage Press. Both very cool looking!

For our usual sunday scrap session Jeanne and I both got quite a bit done. I hit a roadblock later on, but she came thru with a lift idea, that I'm still playing with.

For the ones I did finish, I'm quite happy with those! In 2006, the company I work for decided to move us from TX to Jax, and I really wish I was able to get more pics of the very long drive out, but due to traveling with others (all in our own vehicles), I managed just a few photos. The photo of the hotel they put us up in I took this past week, it hasn't changed. Sadly, the Dunkin' Donuts that was here is now gone. All is not lost, though; they've put Dunkin's in the local Hess stations! hehe.

For my second Layout, I did a 2 pager for the JDRF walk on saturday. I had so many cool pics, that I couldn't decide how to put that many on there without looking too cluttered. I remember Shimelle had a Scrap your Day challenge similar, and I used that idea, worked just perfect!
Working on a LO (or 2) for the pups back home, and have more downtown jax photos to scrap from the walk, as well. So, a very productive scrappy day! As always, go here to see what Jeanne made!

Stormy Sunday Scrapping

Sunday began with some whipping winds and rain. There was a large lock of finches flitting about in the tree outside my window. The cat really enjoyed that!
At the most all I had to do was head out to Walgreens to pick up my prints, and mail a couple things out. I was back home by 8am, and ready to eat and get started thinking about what to scrap for the day. I had a couple ideas, and one led to another and then another, til I had a good 5-6 plans for pages. 3 of those ideas will have to wait, and 2 are completed. Yeah, I'm kinda slow, not to mention I kept getting sucked into surfing online. One more LO is in progress. My "HOME." album is on hiatus until I go home to get some new shots of things that aren't already in there.

At first I was just going to do a general Red Sox LO, and when I started looking thru the photos I had, I noticed how all of Jason's pics were from behind...how odd! ;) That one was a no-brainer..

~Details: Cardstock: Best Occasions, "B": printed off the net, Markers from Zig, "Jason" rubon's from Monograms set, "Varitek": Edwardian Script ITC font, chippy button from Love Elsie, thread from DMC.

So, eventually I will do a Red Sox LO, and a Johnny Damon one, since I met him at the local mall back home before the 2004 season started.

Next layout is one focusing on the Sand dollar I found in St. Augustine last week. Even tho I'm not a religious person, I included the legend that goes with it. I printed the photo out on cardstock, and kept the colors simple.

~details: Cardstock: The Paper Company, Font: Monotype Corsiva, "memories like this" rubons: Swatch book, "treasure" sticker: Adornit, Chipboard border: K & Co.

So there you have it! A fantastic day of scrapping and no better way to spend a crappy weather day than inside, warm & cozy, scrapping with my bestest friend! Yes, the sun did eventually come out, but the winds remained!

As always head over to Jeanne's place, and see what she made on our scrappy day!

(long) scrappy weekends

So happy for a 3 day weekend. I hardly ever get them, and with me being salary, I work more hours than pretty much everyone in my immediate work area. I'm thankful that I have friends & family to chat with, and scrappy stuff to keep me from getting too burned out from the stress!

I took care of some cleaning, laundry and shopping, along with some badly needed sorting of clothes that no longer fit, or are just no good anymore. The goodwill store will be happy, when I get my arse down there to drop them off!
On Sunday Jeanne & I did our usual Scrappy day, each getting quite a bit done. I completed 2 layouts, and a few more small pages for my chippy album. There's probably only room for a few more pages in it, before I'll have to start another one. I'm sure when I head home in May for my vacation, I'll find plenty of things to add to it. :)

There are so many things that have changed around where I grew up, that I'm kind of sad that I don't have pictures of. I know places will change and evolve, I don't have a problem with that. I just wish I got pictures of some of my favorite places.

Anyhoo, the completed layouts this week are here:

I've had these photo's of my niece tubing on the Connecticut River sitting around for 13 years..can't believe she'll be 21 in October!

~Details: PP: American Crafts, Cardstock: Best Occasions, "Tubing Time!" & tubing definition clear stickers: SRM Press, "N" & "summer": Studio G, "icole": Swatch book rub-ons(sonnets), "95" & "7": KI memories, "@": Fiskars, ink: ColorBox.

I love this picture of Nicole, not holding on, and sticking her tongue out at me! She was all of 7!

Next up is a layout of a 2001 trip to Florida I took with my sister and her family. I did 2 layouts for this trip previously, but you don't want to see those. LOL This one just has a few pics from Universal Studios, and one from Daytona Beach.

~Details: Cardstock: Best Occasions, PP behind beach photo: American Crafts, "Beach": Imaginisce, "fun in" & wave stamps: Studio G, "florida" stamps: KI Memories, rub on star: Junkitz expressions, ink from ColorBox, font in journaling: French Script MT, border strip: K & Co (que sera sera)
In the mini book I'm working on here are the pages I finished this weekend:

So there you have it, as always we had had a blast and hopefully May will come around quick, so I can get back home to take more pictures there. Only 97 days to vacation!

Creative Weekend, part deux

And the creativity continues...Sunday, before the superbowl started, Jeanne and I continued working on our respective projects. On this page, under that sweet little flower, are no less than 4 messed up stamping attempts, I gave up, stuck the flower there, and called it done!
The Wednesday night Bishop's Lounge Group. Beau and his fan club.

This is the house I spent most of my formitive years in. Much of my time was spent playing outside, riding my bike (yes, that blue one right in front) around the Northampton state Hospital as the house was across from the community gardens. No need to lock the doors back then, either.

Ahh, one of my & Jeanne's fave pics, I want to say this was about 2003 or 4, not exactly sure. Getting ready to leave for one of our Boston adventures. Maybe an overnight trip, even.

My trusty white Subaru Forester, and my trusty camera by my side. And of course my trusty friend! :)

Here I am working on one of the pages.
Tune in next week, or maybe in a few days, to see what else I've managed to make a mess of!
And of couse go here to see what Jeanne made!

New Scrap Projects!

A couple of weeks ago, Jeanne & I decided to do a chipboard album together using inspiration for the book by Ali Edwards she got me (& herself) for my birthday. It's an awesome book full of cool ideas. we gave ourselves 2 weeks to figure out what we each wanted to do, and I chose a New England theme. I'm using this album to "showcase" some of my favorite places, and people, too. Some of the pics are older, and many are newer, but all are pics I love.

So, these are a few of the pages. I used a BasicGrey 6x6 chipboard album, and lots of neutral cardstock, and acrylic paints. It will definitely be an ongoing project, or a "work in progress" as Jeanne & I have come to call it.
So, go here to see what kind of cool project Jeanne is making, and have a lovely week!!!

Scrappy Day is Fun Day!

I had my weekly scrap therapy with Jeanne yesterday, and got quite a bit done. First up is a look at a layout I did using some of the pics I got when I went to Cleveland, OH back in March of '08. It was sort of a spur of the moment decision to go, and I don't regret it one bit. I'd love to go back, when it's warmer!!

Next one is one that started out as just a mishmash of music things I liked and then a 2nd page was born, noting bands that I loved in each of the last 3 decades.

And last but not least is a layout featuring pics from a college soccer game (Nichols College) that I went to back in late '07, starring my neice Nicole as Goalie Extraordinaire.

Scrappy Monday

Here we go again! Jeanne & I decided to do another scrappy sunday this weekend, and got quite a bit accomplished. We had a blast as always, too! This time we decided on a 'lift from the January 2008 issue of Scrapbooks Etc. It was basically a years worth of Self Portraits. Not all of them, and let me tell you, I had a hard time deciding which ones to use. It also made me realize I need to get way more creative with it this year! :)

On the left is the original, and on the right is what I came up with: (sorry about the bad crop, Picasa doesn't like me anymore. ;)

Turns out most of my pics are from the second half of the year, because I really didn't do too many in the first half. Oh well.
Anyhoo...Cardstock: best occasions, "2008": AC thickers orange vinyl (love these)!, "in": Me & My Big Ideas monograms, "KIM": sadly, I forgot who made these letters, but I do like them! Journey, Adventure & Memories Stickers: K & Co sea glass collection, PP behind a couple of the pics is from AC, and the little fortune sticker is from Creative Imaginations.
I'm also working on 2 other layouts, that I thought were finished, but decide to expand them both to 2 pagers (with a little push from jeanne, lol). Will post those soon as I can.

Rearranging things..

For several weeks now I've wanted to rearrange my scrapping area. It wasn't very efficient, and my computer desk (desktop has XP, laptop has Vista)became a spot I just tossed stuff, and if I did need that computer for something, it took me forever just to get in there enough to use it. So I decided to clean everything off, and start from scratch!

I had 2 work tables, so I put one on each side of the computer desk, and used some white storage shelf units (the put together yourself kind) and used those for some storage. One table is mainly storage and my trimmer, the other table has a little storage and a huge workspace.

I'm not interesting in keeping it neat and pretty, just organized enough to get in there when I want...
So, there you have it. That's where I do all my scrapping!

Scrappy day

Last night after getting home from work, I decided to print out a few pictures, and scrap my day. I even managed to keep the fact that it was my birthday a secret from everyone at work all day. I hate attention from people who feel obligated to do things for their boss/supervisor, and the best present for me would just to have everyone actually do the requried work for one day. lol

So, anyhoo. I made a layout of my day, and here it is!
Cardstock from Colorbok, Clear stickers from Timeless Moments collection by "It Takes Two", Ink from Colorbox. "today" stickers from Basic Grey (sublime towering type). Round flower sticker under the Y is salsa celebration by Junkitz.

Happy Mail Day(s)

So, yesterday I got home and there was a suspicious package in my mailbox...ok, so it wasn't suspicious at all, but a birthday gift from my BFF, Jeanne. I patiently waited **grumble** til she came online so she could watch me open it on the webcam (my gift to her on her b-day back in October, LOL). I carefully cut one edge of the envelope, and gave that strip to my cat. He loved it, and played with it most of the evening. Inside was a cd of the pics she took when we went to Boston in September. We always share our pics, and that way we have pics of ourselves to scrap, or what-not.

Also inside was a set of clear stamps (doodle tagged is the name) from Autumn Leaves. I LOVE this company, and I love clear stamps! Those are probably the one embellishment I use on all my LO's. The fun doesn't stop here....also inside was a book by Ali Edwards, "Sharing Your Story". I've gotten into doing mini albums with the Jessica Sprague class "Stories in Hand", (see my sidebar for link). I really love how many different styles of mini albums there are, so this should be some fun!

To top it off, Jeanne got herself the same stamp set and book, so we can create stuff together! How fun is that?? What an awesome gift!! Oh, I also got the newest issue of Creating keepsakes in the mail today too!! Even more creative inspiration!

So here is a piccy of my goodies:

Thanks, Jeanne!!

scraplifting monday

Time for another round of scraplifting! This time we both took quite a few liberties with the LO's theme, but still can see where the similarities lie. The original can be found here, in the layout titled "southern comforts". Here is what I came up with:

Go here to see what Jeanne came up with! As always it was a ton of fun, and we seem to accomplish more when we scrap together, not to mention it's just more fun!
Oh, and for the record, I used basic grey paper for the background.

Scraplift time!

Jeanne & I found a great way to scrap our furbabies in a layout titled "High Maintenance". Most cats are exactly that, so it was a pretty easy choice. We don't have the source for the original, so don't want to show it without proper credit being given. Suffice it to say it was darn cute!

Anyhoo, Here is what I came up with:
Color circles cut from PP by We R Memory Makers, Journaling paper by Colorbok, Chipboard title letters (HIGH) from Creative Imaginations, Stamped letters (maintenance) by "my sentiments exactly (perky upper), Cardstock from Best Occasions.
Go here to see her layout! What a blast we had, and we have at least 2 more 'lifts lined up for the future...

scrap pages..

Over the weekend I got around to finishing a few pages that have been in progress, just waiting for the finishing touch. So, I thought I'd post them since I haven't shared many LO's lately.

Jeanne pointed me towards a neat blog, called 12 of 12, where you scrap 12 pictures from the 12th of the month. Neat idea! I happened to go down to St Augustine that day, it was a pretty easy task to acomplish! Although the real challenge for me is scrapping the ordinary. Put plainly, I suck at it. LOL

I also did my September month in review page. It was hard to pare down the pics for that one, since I was in Massachusetts for my vacation. I saw & did so many fun things, it was hard to decide what to include, and what to "pass over".

Then in the fall Issue of Scrapbooks Etc. Jeanne found a layout that would work nicely as a Boston challenge for us to 'lift, and boy, did it!

Here's the original:

And here's my creation:
